خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلاةَ

In their neglect is destruction.

خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلاةَ: " Qatadah said, "This means evil
فخلف من بعدهم خلف ورثوا الكتاب يأخذون عرض هذا الأدنى ويقولون سيغفر لنا وإن يأتهم عرض مثله يأخذوه ۚ ألم يؤخذ عليهم ميثاق الكتاب أن لا يقولوا على الله إلا الحق ودرسوا ما فيه ۗ والدار الآخرة خير للذين يتقون ۗ أفلا تعقلون: It may be either translated as above or it may be rendered thus: 'For the righteous, only the home in the Hereafter is the best
فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا: What makes their crime even worse is that their claim to unconditional salvation constitutes a sacrilege of their covenant with God whereby they pledged never to attribute any false statement to God

" The people said, "We thought that this was referring to the abandonment of the prayer	] and have followed lusts
" He replied, "That would be disbelief	As they became more and more neglectful of their Salat, their lusts took complete hold of them and they fell to the lowest depths of moral depravity and began to follow their whims instead of the Divine Commands

فخلف من بعدهم خلف ورثوا الكتاب يأخذون عرض هذا الأدنى ويقولون سيغفر لنا وإن يأتهم عرض مثله يأخذوه ۚ ألم يؤخذ عليهم ميثاق الكتاب أن لا يقولوا على الله إلا الحق ودرسوا ما فيه ۗ والدار الآخرة خير للذين يتقون ۗ أفلا تعقلون

Therefore, these people will meet with Ghaiy, which means loss on the Day of Resurrection.

فخلف من بعدهم خلف أضاعوا الصلاة: Aziz These are those to whom Allah has been gracious, of the prophets of the seed of Adam, and of those whom We carried with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and Israel, and of those We guided and elected
تفسير سورة مريم: Thus, these people will occupy themselves with worldly desires and delights, and they will be pleased with the life of this world
